The Brew Hammond Energy Centre Opens Registration for 2025 Short Courses in Renewable Energy

The Brew Hammond Energy Centre at KNUST has announced its 2025 Short Courses in Renewable Energy, designed to equip participants with both theoretical foundations and hands-on practical skills in the field of renewables.

The initiative offers a timely opportunity for researchers, professionals, students, and national service personnel to deepen their expertise in critical areas of renewable energy technologies and applications.

According to the Deputy Coordinator of Short Courses at the Centre Dr. Peter Asigri, the short courses will run in two sessions:

Week One (8th – 12th September 2025):

  • Solar PV System Design and Installation
  • Biogas System Design and Installation

Week Two (15th – 19th September 2025):

  • Financial Modelling and Analysis of Renewable Energy Projects
  • GIS for Energy Applications
  • Solar PV Energy Applications

Dr. Asigri, noted that the core objective of the programme is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in renewable energy.

“This initiative is tailored to prepare participants for the job market and empower them to even set up their own ventures within the renewable energy sector,” he said.

In a bid to promote inclusivity and support local talent, the Centre will offer sponsorship to 15 female and 5 male Ghanaian applicants for the Solar PV and Financial Modelling courses. Selection will be based on applicants’ motivation statements.

Course Fees

  • Ghanaian Participants:
    • Financial Modelling / PV Systems: GHS 1,000
    • Solar PV Energy Applications: GHS 1,200
    • GIS for Energy Applications: GHS 1,500
    • Biogas System Design: GHS 2,500
  • Foreign Participants:
    • Financial Modelling / PV Systems: USD 300
    • Solar PV Energy Applications: USD 350
    • GIS for Energy Applications: USD 300
    • Biogas System Design: USD 400

Students and National Service personnel are also encouraged to register with certification awarded upon completion of the course.
