The Energy Center, KNUST is organizing its second International Solar Energy Experts Workshop, dubbed I – SEE 2012 from 29 – 31 May 2012.
The event is expected to bring together energy experts from academia, government and private business to deliberate on key issues affecting renewable energy in Africa.
I-SEE 2012, is part of the knowledge sharing component of Solar Capacity Upgrading Project (SOLARCUP), and is supported by the World Bank.
This upcoming event, International Solar Energy Experts Workshop (I-SEE, 2012), follows a similar event in August last year, which brought together experts from academia, government, industry and regional organizations such as ECREEE and the African Union, to share experiences (from projects and programmes), findings from research and other studies, and to distil vital lessons for dissemination.
SolarCUP is a multi-component project which has inter alia, created knowledge-sharing and peer-learning platforms for energy technology and policy experts through webinars, trainings and workshops.
Falling within the International Year of sustainable Energy for All, as declared by the UN Secretary-General, this event seeks to highlight the important role of renewable energy, and in particular solar energy technologies in meeting the energy needs of the West African Sub-region.
The workshop will project for discussion, financing mechanisms of utility-scale solar energy projects in Africa and the regulatory frameworks that have supported these projects. It will also seek to present some lessons from the implementation of the SolarCUP project, create new linkages among renewable energy experts, and strengthen existing partnerships to promote research and training. ISEE 2012 will bring together experts from government, academia and industry/business.
The event will take place from 29 – 31 May 2012, at The Energy Center of the College of Engineering, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in the historic city of Kumasi in Ghana.
Ordinarily, participation is by invitation of the organizers; these invitations have been sent to targeted energy technology and policy experts within and outside of Africa. Persons who have not received invitations, but wish to be part, may contact organizers through the contact information provided below, to indicate their interest and motivation.
