The Energy Center hosted the German Minister of Federal Affairs, Europe and Media during his visit to KNUST to inspect Green Energy related project titled ‘Climate and Resource Protection for Sustainable development’ funded by the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

The ‘Climate and Resource Protection for Sustainable development’ is a project being implemented by TEC in partnership with the University of Dortmund and the University of Applied Sciences, Gelsenkirchen. This project aims at providing uninterruptible power supply to selected buildings in the College of Engineering. It is hybrid system that integrates Solar technologies with biofuel and Smart energy management systems to ensure effective and efficient use of power.

The Minister also visited the Hazardous waste incinerator project at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. This project is also funded by NRW and is being implanted by TEC in collaboration with a number of German companies.
