2nd John Kofi Turkson Memorial Lecture

The lecture, titled “Electricity for All in Ghana: When and How”, will be given by Prof Fred Akuffo this Friday, 30 January, at the Great Hall Conference Room starting at 5:00 pm. The Memorial Lecture is organised by the Turkson Foundation, formed after the untimely death of Dr John Kofi Turkson in a plane crash off the coast of Abidjan, following a trip to Ghana in connection with DANIDA funding for the Strategic National Energy Plan (SNEP) and the Renewable Energy Development Programme (REDP).

As a lecturer at KNUST with expertise in energy planning and economics, Dr John Kofi Turkson went to great lengths to contribute towards the deepening of the environment for intellectual discourse on campus.  His untimely death in a plane crash on the night of 30 January 2000 brought an illustrious international career to an abrupt end, and the holding of the 2nd Memorial Lecture at KNUST is an attempt to recognize not only his contribution to academic life in this university but also to let the whole world know that KNUST contributed towards the shaping of this illustrious son of Ghana.
